Styling and Decorating Kitchen Can Actually Be Fun & Interesting

Let me begin this post with a question, can we really decorate a kitchen? Well, my answer to this is a big YES. Styling a kitchen is quite a big deal as everyone thinks that it is not possible to add decor elements into the kitchen. Here are some fabulous “can be done” ideas that will make your kitchen look stunning.

Some one has rightly said: where there is a will there’s a way…

We often think that decorating a kitchen is not possible because there’s a lot of smoke that will eventually dirty your decor items. Hmm…actually you are right on your part but you know what…I am NOT talking about using the elements that we use to decorate our living room like teddy bears, cushions or statues…err…who likes to see these in their work space until it’s a toy kitchen of a toddler. Okay, I do love toys…but really can’t see my teddy with black eyes. :P

In fact, am going to share some practically possible ideas on “how to decorate a kitchen” that will make your eyes go wide and will force you to give a second thought on kitchen decor.

Starting with this inspiring idea of using open selves for holding your colorful crockery. While you will keenly observe it, you will find some minute details in the picture below.

Let me make it easier for you: Take a look at the painting on window glass. Isn’t it a cool idea to decorate kitchens. You can also add small potted plants or may be herbs, it can be a real or fake one, depending on your choice and if you can really care for indoor plants. Is that it?

Nah, I am sure you wouldn’t have noticed the decorative vases at the ventilation over the window.

Have kitchen walls with fun colors as shown in the image below? Then, you must go for a clutter-free and minimalistic decor idea in your kitchen. But yes, don’t forget to add accessories with complementing colors, just like this combination of purple walls with orange-colored stand, salt and pepper shakers, vessel stand etc.

Choose the best color for your kitchen and make your working space an interesting one. I just love the idea of using magnetic knife holder, do you?

Colors for Wall

Ya ya….it’s not always possible to change the wall colors of your interior. Since a paint on wall happens to change only on occasions. Damn! Wish I was a Jennie to change my home color every single time I want. My my…look at this one, a counter top in pink…now that’s an interesting one.

Oh..these chalk board paints are becoming popular in India day by day. I have really fallen in love with this concept. Though I never liked my classroom chalk boards, where we students were forced to study horrifying chemical equations and mathematics formulas… phew…but…am so loving it as a decor. You can actually squeeze out some fun ideas of using chalk board paint in your home.

While you use it in the kitchen, you can write all your recipes, list of items you need to buy, a note for guests in your kitchen and lots more.

I am not done yet sharing more of decor tips for kitchen. Apart from having a brighter light for cooking at night, you can have pendent lamps, ceiling lights or even a chandelier in your kitchen area, especially, if you have an arrangement for dining table within the kitchen. Here are some tips for choosing the right kind of lighting for your kitchen.

This idea in the image below perfectly suits the kitchens with wider windows, so that you can mount shelves over the top of the window and either store or decorate your earthenware crockery, potted plants or decor pieces on it.

The most in-trend idea for kitchen is to add decorative kitchen tiles as back-splash and floors too can be decorated using unique tiles design available in the market. Also, stainless steel shelves in the kitchen are getting popular these days. Love the idea of adding soft lights over the decor pieces.

Tips:

1. If you want to use a wall painting or picture frames on wall, make sure that you hang it away from your cooking area where there is excessive heat.

2. If using decor pieces, make sure that you clean it frequently. Also, if the decor item that you are using is washable…do wash it with soapy water to get rid of sticky layers or dust on it.

I think now you can change your mind-set that “kitchens can’t be decorated”. Was I able to convince you? Have some refreshing ideas to share with me? Do reply me with your tips on kitchen decor in the comment box below. You can even share pictures of your beautiful kitchen with me. What are you waiting for, keep the creative juices flowing… :)
