Curtain Designs as Home Decor Accessory

Have you ever noticed, what covers the maximum part of your home even if you don’t have any home decor accessory? Yes, its a curtain. Curtains occupy a very prominent role in decorating your home. Choosing a curtain design depends upon other elements of your home, such as: shape of your rooms, materials and wall colors.

I mean, if you have a bright-colored plain wall,  say green, then you can go for a curtain design in floral pattern, it will make your home interior look similar to the nature.  Curtains and drapes can change the character of your home and renew the atmosphere of an environment in just one shot.

Curtains in past were used only  to filter/block lights from outside and prevent your home from dust particles, but now it plays a very important role of a  home decor accessory. You can either buy a ready-made curtain from the market or make it on your own. Making curtains on your own is definitely a great idea, I will surely try to make one for my room.

There are several designs of curtains available in the market, do make a right choice while selecting them and think as if you are buying it to dress up your home. Find the best curtains that enhances your home environment. Here are some of the curtain designs that I thought would be of your interest.

You can find a large number of curtain designs in floral patterns with every possible color you can think of. Floral design curtains will not only be a perfect home decoration accessory but it will enhance the look of your home as well.

I have a curtain in peach color with colorful floral prints on it, its looks so beautiful that I wish I could design a dress for myself with that curtain. Of course I can do it, but I am scared of my mother…may be she will wash me thoroughly.

Satin Curtains

Plain satin curtain designs look so beautiful with any contrasting wall colors. You don’t need to but any extra accessories like designer rings or rods for these type of curtains. Satin design curtain in itself is so rich in looks that it will overcome all your mess. That doesn’t mean you will create a mess knowingly and cover it up with satin curtains.

Sheer or Net Curtain

Net design curtains are made up of translucent fabric which allows the lights inside your home to a minimum but the look that it creates is really awesome. I made a count that every home I visited, out of 10 I have seen at least 6 to 7 homes with sheer curtain designs.

It was quite interesting to know how my neighbor had all the news updates of our colony. To my shock, I saw her (neighbor) sitting at her window and keeping a check on every single person of our area. Well,  she is not bad at heart but I think net design curtains ignited her detective mind.

I love curtain designs in net because it creates an atmosphere of a fairy tale and the greatest thing about sheer curtains is, it does allow outsiders to peep inside your home but you can definitely have a clear look through it and see what’s going on outside your home.

Khadi Curtains

Does it sound boring to you, then please wake up and see the world around you. Khadi is changing its traditional look to a modern design. Till now you must have heard about khadi as a wardrobe but this time there is something new.

Curtain designs are now available in khadi fabrics as well, considered to be the best fabric for summers. Khadi fabrics are referred to as a fabric of value and pride for all Indians. Khadi cannot be only referred as just a piece of cloth, as we all know it was a whole movement started by “Gandhi Ji” to boycott foreign goods.

Khadi is available in materials like silk, cotton or wool. It’s really commendable that fashion designers like Ritu Kumar and Rohit Bal have worked for a long in reviving and modernizing our traditional khadi fabrics. I would like to give a special thanks to them.

Curtains with Embroidery

Have you ever seen curtains with embroidery? Yeah, that’s true; you can find a variety of curtains with embroidery on it. Every Indian house wife I encounter with has fine embroidery skills. Can anyone please guide me on that?

You know what; you can make your own curtains with embroidery on it, try all your embroidery skills form a simple design to a complicated one. You just need to buy a plain curtain fabric and make your own designs on it. Isn’t it amazing, you will be decorating your home using your skills!

Multicolored Curtains

God! This is so creative way to use all your left out fabrics and make awesome looking curtains for your home, that too in completely your style. For those who are Crazy About Patchwork Designs and Patterns – Its Time To Make It!

If you are confused about which color of curtains you must buy, curtain designs have something innovative for you. Either you can buy a curtain with multiple colors or you can make it on your own with the left over or cut pieces of different clothes.

Collect all unused pieces of clothes, cut them all into similar shapes and stitch the curtain by attaching each piece of cloth according to the length and width of your doors and windows as shown in the image. Apart from the curtain designs I have mentioned above there are other curtain designs like curtains in polka dots, vertical strips etc.

Yeah, the easiest of all is styling your favorite fabric by using block printing technique. Even for long drapes you can use stencils and make patterns of your choice.
